Best Business Laptops

Some companies keep you going, while others demand high output and presentations every day. Having a reliable laptop as your portable workstation can be the difference between a productive and a bad day. Of course, it’s also useful to be lightweight and have a touchscreen. In this era of working from home, the best business laptops need to do more than send emails and connect to the Internet; they need to be reliable, robust, and as easy to use for remote working as they are for taking to the office, or for events.

We review dozens of business laptops each year, and the models that make up our best business laptop list offer a combination of comfort, performance, and battery life. Don’t forget security and durability — business laptops typically come with fingerprint sensors, IR cameras, and security chips, and many have military durability. Newer models should even come with webcam sliders or switches for killing the camera.

Best Business Laptops List

With this in mind, we have gathered the best business laptops for every kind of person. Whether you are always on the go or need a powerful touchscreen, there is something for everyone on this list. If you are looking for more powerful gaming laptops, then do visit our Best Gaming Laptops page.

Dell XPS 15

The best laptop for creators

Best Business Laptops

Like the latest Dell XPS 13, the XPS 15 2020 makes one of the best laptops available. That’s mostly thanks to an even more immersive 15.6-inch InfinityEdge display, which throws out the bottom edge of the screen for a stunning 92.9% aspect to body ratio. The new XPS 15 is also enhanced by several smart design adjustments, including larger keyboards and a responsive touchpad more than 60% larger than the previous generation.

Don’t be fooled by its sleek and stylish design either; the XPS 15 2020 is an absolute workhorse. Its 10th Gen Intel’s Core processors can juggle multiple tasks with ease, and it’s optional Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1650 Ti GPU gives us some serious muscle for graphics and gaming. Factor in a pair of impressively loudspeakers and stable battery life for a 4K laptop, and the new Dell XPS 15 2020 is one of the best 15-inch laptops that you can buy.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon

Best business laptop in the world

Lenovo has made our favorite business laptop even better by enhancing its speakers, giving it a sleek carbon fiber structure, and adding some useful security features, including a webcam shutter and an IR camera. You’ll even get distant field microphones in case you need a digital assistant. What’s more, you get strong performance and fast SSD. This means that if you are working on large spreadsheets with a lot of calculations, the X1 Carbon will process them with aplomb.

You also get a long battery life (on the 1080p model) and two beautiful, 1080p, and 4K display options, all in an impossibly lightweight chassis. But it’s that classic ThinkPad X1 features a durable (military tested) chassis, best-in-class keyboard, and stylish black/red aesthetics, that carry the X1 Carbon to greatness. Overall, this is one of the best business laptops that you can buy right now.

MacBook Pro 16-inch

The most powerful Macbook in the world

Best Business Laptops

The 16-inch MacBook Pro is your type if you’ve been waiting for Apple to make a good keyboard. The Magic Keyboard on this premium laptop swallows up the Butterfly mechanism in favor of the scissor switches, and the result is a much more comfortable typing experience. You’ll also get a crisp and sharp 16-inch display with slimmer edges, powerful performance from an available Intel’s Core i9 CPU, and robust AMD’s Radeon 5300M or 5500M graphics.

You can also configure the laptop with up to 64GB RAM and 8TB storage if you want to splurge. The 11-hours of battery life is another advantage of this laptop that doesn’t fall into the runtimes of its competitors. The 16-inch MacBook Pro is expensive, and Apple still doesn’t have full-size USB ports, but overall this is one of the best business laptops for creative professionals.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga

The best 2-in-1 business laptop

Lenovo took a chance with the ThinkPad X1 Yoga, the first metal ThinkPad, and it paid off. While we still love the distinctive matte-black carbon fiber found on most ThinkPads, the aluminum and magnesium ThinkPad X1 Yoga is an excellent change of pace. Not only does it have a sleek design, but this convertible 2-in-1 shows off a clear display and offers a best-in-class keyboard and long battery life. You’ll also get lots of extra goodies, like a built-in stylus slot and a webcam cover. There is simply no better business convertible than the ThinkPad X1 Yoga, apart from HP’s beautiful new Elite Dragonfly.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7

The best portable business laptop

Best Business Laptops

Surface Pro 7 makes an excellent laptop in last year’s Surface Pro 6 and gives it a power boost. While the battery life is a hit, the new 10th generation CPU delivers outstanding performance. The design hasn’t changed at all, but the Surface Pro 7 now has a USB-C port for charging and connecting peripherals. Microsoft still sells the comfortable Alcantara Type Cover and super-responsive Surface Pen, making it easy to draw or take notes on the tablet’s vibrant and bright 12.3-inch display. Overall, this is one of the best business laptops right now.

Dell Latitude 9410 2-in-1

An excellent clamshell 2-in-1 laptop

Best Business Laptops

If battery life is a priority, the Dell Latitude 9410 2-in-1 is one of the business laptops for you. The 2-in-1 notebook has quickly helped me through a full day, even with the brightness of the screen. But the more than 16 hours of battery life isn’t the only reason to buy this notebook; the Latitude 9410 2-in-1 has a sleek, flexible design, fast performance, and some useful sign-on options.

All you have to do is walk up to this Dell, and it knows you’re there, thanks to its proximity sensor. This makes it super easy to log in: you don’t have to enter passwords or even look at an IR camera. The Latitude 9410 2-in-1 is yet another big step for Dell’s famous business notebooks. We only hope that the next version will have a brighter screen and a webcam cover.

Asus ExpertBook B9450

The best ultraportable business laptop

Best Business Laptops

16 hours and 42 minutes. That’s how long the ExpertBook B9450 lasted on our battery test, surfing the web continuously over Wi-Fi with 150 nits. Nearly 17 hours. Can you believe that? Because I can’t. No other laptop has lasted that long. It’s incredible for so many reasons. Sure, that’s super long. But what if I told you that the longest laptop ever weighs only 2.2 pounds. Or that it has a 10th generation Intel U Series processor in it? Or that the midnight blue chassis is one of the finest we’ve ever seen. There are so many reasons to love the ExpertBook B9450 and even place it above the ThinkPad X1 Carbon. Asus still has a few things to fix – like the frustrating keyboard – but it’s on the right track.

HP Elite Dragonfly

One of the best 2-in-1 business laptop

When it comes to the best business laptops, the HP Elite Dragonfly is at the top of our list with its combination of portability and power. It’s also one of the finest business laptops we’ve seen in a long time, with a thin and light design – complete with incredible speakers, a sublime keyboard, and the optional 550 nits 4K display – that’s hard to handle. This hybrid gets our coveted five-star rating, which already says a lot because we don’t radiate it lightly. And, have we mentioned that it also has an impressive battery life.

MacBook Pro 13-inch

Compact and powerful Macbook for Apple fans

The MacBook Pro 13-inch 2020 solves the biggest problem with Apple’s other outstanding 13-inch laptop: the keyboard. By dropping the shallow keys of the older Butterfly keyboard in favor of the fabulous Magic Keyboard, the latest MacBook Pro 13-inch delivers the comfortable and responsive typing experience we’ve longed for on Apple’s flagship laptop. However, a great new keyboard isn’t all the new MacBook 2020 has.

The new 13-inch model gets a nice power boost with a 10th generation Core i7 processor, which, combined with its available 3733MHz RAM, blazing-fast SSD, and Intel Iris Plus graphics, gives reliable performance for multitasking and photo and video editing. The 2560 x 1600 on the MacBook Pro is still as beautiful as ever, and the laptop lasts almost 11 hours. Apple has doubled the price for RAM on the entry-level model, and you pay for the 10th generation power, but overall the latest 13-inch MacBook Pro is an outstanding laptop.

Dell XPS 13

A compact business laptop

It’s hard to improve near perfection, but the XPS 13 2020 manages to make the best laptop even better – and it’s so good that the Dell XPS 13 won our title for the best laptop. Dell’s latest flagship PC features Intel’s latest 10th generation processors, which make multitasking between apps and even doing some light gaming a breeze. The laptop’s Infinity Edge screen now has a screen ratio of 91.5% without getting in the way of your favorite movies and TV shows.

Some smaller improvements make the XPS 13 2020 better than its predecessors. The laptop’s comfortable keyboard is now edge-to-edge, and the touchpad is 17% larger, making it much easier to work with documents for long periods without getting cramped. With a few minor material changes, the beautiful aluminum design is even more attractive to use and hold, and the Dell XPS 13 2020 quickly catches the eye at the top of its class.
